Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026
In short: We collect only what we need to run DevSafar. We never sell your personal information. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time, and we will action it within 30 days.
DevSafar ("we", "our", or "us") operates the DevSafar platform, a hackathon discovery and aggregation service accessible via web and mobile applications. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our services. By accessing or using DevSafar, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account, we collect your display name, email address, and password. When you list hackathons, update your profile, or use team formation features, we collect the information you submit through those forms — including event details, skills, team preferences, bio, and social links.
1.2 Information from Third-Party Authentication
If you sign in using GitHub or Google, we receive basic profile information from those services, including your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not access your private repositories, code, contacts, or other sensitive data from these providers.
1.3 Automatically Collected Information
We automatically collect certain technical information when you use DevSafar, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, pages visited, and interaction timestamps. This data helps us improve platform performance, diagnose technical issues, and understand usage patterns.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve DevSafar. Specifically, we use your data to:
Create and manage your account
Enable you to discover, track, and list hackathons
Facilitate team formation and teammate discovery
Send deadline reminders, event updates, and service notifications
Respond to your support requests and feedback
Analyze usage patterns to improve the platform experience
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
With other users through your public profile information (display name, avatar, skills, and bio)
With infrastructure and service providers who assist us in operating the platform (such as cloud hosting and analytics providers), under strict confidentiality agreements
When required by law, regulation, court order, or legal process
To protect the rights, safety, or property of DevSafar, our users, or the public
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices. We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure provider, which employs encryption at rest and in transit, row-level security, and regular security audits. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You can view and correct most of your personal information at any time from your profile settings. To request a complete copy of your data, or to permanently delete your account and all associated data, send us a message through the Contact Developer option in the app, or open an issue at github.com/stymite. Account deletion is handled on request rather than from within the app. We will respond to such requests within 30 days.
6. Cookies and Tracking
DevSafar uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences (such as theme and notification settings), and understand how you interact with the platform. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the service.
6.1 Advertising
We display advertising on DevSafar through Google AdSense to keep the platform free. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to DevSafar and other websites. These advertising cookies enable Google to show ads that may be relevant to you. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Third-party ad vendors may also use cookies to serve and measure ads.
7. Children's Privacy
DevSafar is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete that information.
8. International Data Transfers
DevSafar is operated globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions or other jurisdictions where our infrastructure providers operate. By using DevSafar, you consent to such transfers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and where appropriate, notifying users through the platform. Your continued use of DevSafar after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
